About Alina

I am a registered psychologist (no 4153) offering counselling and psychotherapy to individuals.

Through my experience I’ve come to respect that we all have our struggles and burdens, some more easy to overcome than others.  My goal as a psychologist is to provide the stability, understanding, and skilled support you need to move through your challenges and to overcome barriers to a rewarding life.  As I tailor therapy to individual needs, I incorporate several therapeutic modalities into my work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-focussed Therapy (CFT).  My style is collaborative, patient, and transparent.

A bit about my background: after obtaining Bachelor's degrees in both Neuroscience and Psychology, I completed the U of A Master's program in Counselling Psychology.  Post graduation I received additional training in psychotherapy and assessment at the U of A Hospital's Clinical Psychology Services.  For 5 years, I worked on the U of A Hospital’s Burn Unit and General Systems ICU where I helped patients and families navigate one of the most confusing, distressing, and hopeless experiences of their lives. In 2019, I shifted away from hospital work, choosing to focus on supporting individuals in the community.
